I Have a Board Game Idea, Now What? Part 13 – Updates from The Hackers Guild Team

It has been a little while since I last posted an update on the progress of The Hackers Guild and I wanted to catch everyone up on what has changed and been accomplished in the process of developing The Hackers Guild.

Art and Graphic Design

Johnathan McEnroe, the artist and graphic designer I’ve hired for The Hackers Guild, has been hard at work pretty much since December of last year. He has come up with some really beautiful art pieces for the game. I have tried to share them has they become available, but thought I would include some of his more recent work below.

Event Appearances

I try and make an public appearance at as many gaming events as I can to help with the play testing of The Hackers Guild. Recently, I’ve attended Prairie Con in Brandon in June, and Game Knight’s Tabletop Day in Winnipeg on the 6th of August. Had a couple of games that day and got some really great feedback.

The Hackers Guild was also included in IGA’s prototype library at GenCon this year. While I’m not sure if the game got played, it still was fun to know that it was there and available.

Digital Play Testing

Small improvements continue to be made to the Tabletop Simulator mod for The Hackers Guild, but the most exciting news on this front is that The Hackers Guild is now live on Tabletopia! For those with memberships, they can check it out at https://beta.tabletopia.com/games/the-hackers-guild. Otherwise, keep any eye out on the blog for notifications of play testing sessions.

Kickstarter Preparation

The preparation for The Hackers Guild is moving along slowly. Manufacturing estimates are being finalized, I’m still waiting on the review copies so I can get them to reviewers, and I’ve started working on arranging interviews and guest posts. If you are interested in having me provide a guest post or want to arrange an interview, let me know and I’m sure we can make something happen.

I’ve also started working on getting the rules translated into other languages. The French translation is mostly done, and I’ve looked into options for a German translation. If you are interested, or know someone who would be, in helping out in this process, please let me know in the comments, or by using the contact us page.

That is everything for this post. Until next time, happy designing.
